Classique aéro service

Our aircraft joinery workshop brings together three themes - the love of old wood and fabric "flying machines", the pleasure of working in wood and a passion for knowledge of aircraft history and techniques of the past.

This is a craft that contributes to the conservation and preservation of the worldwide aeronautical heritage.

Our favourite period is from 1910 to 1930, from Blériot to SPAD, Hanriot, Nieuport, Farman and the legendary aircraft of the First World War, through the Alberts and Caudron Lucioles of the National Technical Concours of the 20s & 30s to the famous Stampe, Tiger Moth and Bücker, to mention just a few.

We also work on more recent aircraft as well as on gliders.

To repair and maintain this aeronautical inheritance and reproduce faithfully the original as it was built, it is necessary to work from original airframe documents and plans.

This documentation often represents a lengthy labour of research before the work can begin with sufficient knowledge, including of the techniques & methods originally used.

Our team takes every care in the restoration of original airframes as well as when manufacturing reproductions, such as new wings for Stampes.

Equipped with high quality woodworking machinery, we make the various cradles, jigs and patterns required for the manufacture of wing spars and fuselages, wing ribs, ailerons and tail components corresponding to our clients needs.

Whether for a Blériot or a Stampe, some parts are delivered with a JAA Form 1, as we are a qualified workshop.

To respect the structural qualities and flight characteristics of each aircraft, we take care to employ the different wood species utilised originally in their manufacture, such as ash, beech, poplar, Oregon pine or spruce or sometimes even rattan, as well as gaboon, poplar and birch plywood.

Each species has different mechanical characteristics, so offering specific qualities in use. It is very important to respect rigorously the appropriate applications of each to conserve the qualities of the aircraft.
